The LGBTQ Resource Center at Gulfport Public Library is proud to continue its monthly LGBTQ Film Series on Thursday, Sept. 13. Winner of the 2018 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Marina is a transgender woman in Santiago, Chile whose older boyfriend Orlando becomes ill and unexpectedly dies. In the face of her grief, Marina must cope with hostility and unacceptance from Orlando's family and their attempts to shut her out of Orlando's funeral and force her out of the home she shared with him. She battles the very same forces that she has spent a lifetime fighting just to become the woman she is now - a complex, strong, forthright and fantastic woman. (Rated R)The Film Series is a free gathering to watch a film in the company of friends and neighbors on the second Thursday of each month. Each film begins at 7pm in the Friends Room at Gulfport Public Library (5501 28th Avenue South). Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
